Members of the global cannabis industry gathered Thursday night at the Pearl Concert Theater inside Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas to celebrate the industry’s brightest stars.
For the second year, thousands of industry professionals voted in advance of The Emjays International Cannabis Awards to crown their favorite individuals, companies, products and organizations.
Nominees for each of the 26 categories were based on voting by the public, while a panel of industry leaders helped select the winners.
Royal Queen Seeds, based in the Netherlands, took home the award for non-tech Cultivation Company of the Year.
“Thank you to all our customers and the people who voted for us; we couldn’t have won this prize without your support,” said President Shai Ramsahai.
“This year, we have shown the people how much potential there is for the homegrown market, and we are convinced that cannabis seeds are the future, so grow higher.”
The Emjays is produced by Farechild Events in association with MJBizCon.
Legacy operators and newcomers
Some of this year’s Emjays Awards went to industry mainstays, such as the Last Prisoner Project for Advocacy Organization of the Year and Denver-headquartered Vicente for Law Firm of the Year.
Accepting the award for Extraction/Concentrate Brand of the Year, The Clear CEO Rich Battenberg Jr. thanked the brand’s business partners and said, “This wouldn’t have happened for us if, 13 years ago, four people in Long Beach hadn’t been in a commune with a grow and a lab.”
Other categories honored recent achievements and newer cannabis operators, such as Best Marketing Campaign (DaySavers Stoner Dream Job) and Best Newcomer Brand (55Plus).
Ryan Brooks, co-founder and CEO of American Weed Co., picked up the award for Cannabis (Flower) Brand of the Year.
“We want to express our deepest gratitude to all the veterans and first responders; they’re the true heroes, and we believe they deserve priority access to this amazing plant,” Brooks said.
“We’d also like to thank the trailblazers of this industry – especially those from the Emerald Triangle.
“It’s on the sacrifices and hard work of those who came before us that we stand today.”
