Trulieve Cannabis Corp. co-founder James Pernell has been appointed president of the Florida-based marijuana multistate operator.
Pernell, who co-founded Trulieve with CEO Kim Rivers in 2015, has more than 20 years of experience as an entrepreneur and cannabis operator, according to a Thursday news release.
“Jason has been instrumental in the growth and success of this organization over the past decade,” Rivers said in a statement.
“Most recently, Jason has played an integral part in the outstanding performance achieved in Florida.”
A previous Trulieve president, Steve White, stepped down in October 2023 in advance of “his anticipated retirement at the end of this year.”
A spokesperson for Trulieve did not immediately return an MJBizDaily request for comment.
Pernell said in a statement that, “as a co-founder, I have experienced first-hand the incredible growth and transformation of Trulieve from a small startup to the scaled, market leader we are today.”
“I am excited and ready for this opportunity to grow the company through superior products and innovation while always placing the customer first,” he added.
Meanwhile, Trulieve reported fourth-quarter revenue of $301 million, a year-over year increase of 5%, according to the company’s Feb. 27 quarterly report.
And annual revenue was up 5%, to $1.2 billion.
Among other developments noted in Trulieve’s quarter report, the company:
- Launched Onward, a nonalcoholic THC-infused beverage.
- Opened 33 stores in 2024, increasing its retail footprint to 225 locations nationwide.
- Began adult-use sales at three Ohio locations.
Shares of Trulieve trade on the Canadian Securities Exchange as TRUL and the over-the-counter markets as TCNNF.
