4/20 is over, but the battle for cannabis freedom continues.
The rights of responsible cannabis consumers are under attack. Last week, a Texas appeals court ordered police in the cities of Austin and San Marcos to once again begin issuing citations and arrests to minor marijuana offenders — effectively reversing policies that had been approved by more than 80 percent of voters. In Nebraska, lawmakers have stymied efforts to get the state’s voter-approved medical cannabis access program off the ground. And in New Hampshire, Senators have rejected a succession of House-backed marijuana reforms, including legalization, despite their overwhelming popularity among voters.
But now is not the time to become despondent or complacent. The more our political opponents push back, the harder we fight.
Every day, we work to advance our cause. We lobby lawmakers. We speak to the media. We meet with elected officials and their staff. Most importantly, we stand up for you — the responsible cannabis consumer.
By giving to NORML, you provide us with the tools to empower the cannabis community. In today’s political environment, that’s more important than ever.
Please give today so we can continue to do this important work. The time to celebrate has come and gone; now is the time to stand up and fight.
