Arkansas recorded more than $240.9 million in medical marijuana sales through the first 10 months of 2025, according to new state figures.

That’s a healthy increase of 5.75% over the same period last year and means the state is still on pace to break its own sales record, the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration (DFA) said.

“2025 sales should certainly surpass the previous annual record of $284 million,” agency spokesperson Scott Hardin said.

That figure was set in 2023.

Sales over the first 10 months of 2024 totaled $227.8 million.

Record pace for Arkansas medical marijuana sales

“In addition to the year-to-year-increase in the overall spend, total pounds purchased this year are at 65,525, an increase of 3,400 pounds from 2024,” Hardin said.

In October, medical marijuana sales totaled $25.2 million for 6,883 pounds. That was up from $22.7 million for 6,350 pounds in September, according to the DFA.

The Arkansas Department of Health reports 112,760 active patient cards.

Arkansas voters legalized medical marijuana through a constitutional amendment in 2016. The amendment permits the state to award up to 40 dispensary licenses.

So far, Medical Marijuana Commission has awarded 38 licenses. Secretary of Finance Jim Hudson has said he’s in no hurry to award the final two medical marijuana licenses.

In April, Gov. Sarah Huckabee vetoed a bill that would have legalized drive-thru windows, dispensary tours and loosened regulations around MMJ deliveries, claiming it “would expand access to usable marijuana.”
