Edible Arrangements’ parent company is getting into the cannabis edibles business.

Georgia-based Edible Brands is launching edibles.com, an e-commerce marketplace that will offer hemp-derived THC products from brands such as Cann, Wana Brands and 1906.

Edible Arrangements is a franchisor of stores that sell bouquet-shaped fruit baskets.

Edibles.com launched in Texas on Thursday and plans to expand into regulated markets in Florida and Georgia, according to a news release.

Some products will be available to be shipped where it’s legally allowed.

The company also plans to open a flagship store in Atlanta that will serve as a prototype for a limited franchising program, the release noted.

The platform will be led by Thomas Winstanley, who previously was chief marketing officer for East Coast cannabis brand Theory Wellness.

“Edible Brands’ wellness-driven approach aligns with the evolving future of this category,” Winstanley, executive vice president of edibles.com, said in a statement.

“With our robust infrastructure and nationwide footprint, we are. Uniquely positioned to accelerate industry growth.”

Edibles Arrangements made its introduction to the cannabis industry in 2020, when it filed a federal trademark infringement lawsuit against marijuana multistate operator Green Thumb Industries (GTI).

Edible Arrangements alleged that GTI’s Incredibles brand of marijuana edibles infringed upon the company’s registered trademarks, which include “Edible” and “Incredible Edible.”

At the time, Edible Arrangements was planning to launch federally legal hemp-derived edibles products under the Incredibles name.

Two years later, however, Edible Arrangements filed a motion to voluntarily dismiss the case without prejudice because of the “fast-shifting economic and legal landscape of cannabis.”
